Save Your Cans – Interactive Installation

Re Place is partnering with Save Your Cans, a campaign dedicated to diverting more waste from landfill as well as supporting the people who collect cans and bottles to take to Return and Earn.

A growing number of people in Sydney suburbs are collecting bottles and cans to take to Return and Earn. A lot of the time, they have to dig through public and private bins to source these items.

The Save Your Cans campaign was inspired by the thought, “Why not make their lives a little easier?” and after consulting collectors in Sydney, decided to start encouraging households to save cans and bottles from their regular bins.

Save Your Cans will be setting up a huge interactive installation of 190 milk crates that spell out the words ‘SAVE YOUR CANS’ in our space. The aim is for locals to come along, grab a crate, take it home and use it to chuck your bottles and cans in, instead of your normal recycling bin.

How does this help?

Collectors will be able to collect your cans and bottles without having to go through your bin which makes it safer and easier for them to do their job and will keep even more waste out from landfill.

Come along to Re Place on Saturday 6th April between 11am and 3pm to check out the installation, grab a free milk crate and have a chat to the Save Your Cans team.

The first 50 people to come grab a crate will also get a free can of drink that can be the first item you chuck into your crate!
